Rainy days go by
West to east across the sky
Only clouds will watch.
Wind among the trees
Ripples of jade and silver
Silhouette the sky.
Gray placid water
Mist caresses muddy shore
Trees stand sentinel.
Waving poplar trees
Whisper to the wild wind
Near the river bank.
Sky armored by cloud
Rain splatters my window pane
Orange lights reflect.
Moss covers each rock
Water hides itself downstream
Green trees shade the gorge.
Rough brick walls tower
Perforated by windows
Lightning rods on top.
The fairy princess
Darts past the picture window
On her ten-speed bike.
Green curtains of leaves
Follow the tide of autumn
Wind is now fire.
Foggy days will sleep
Sunlight fades to early night
Winter approaches.
Sandy shells rattle
In the pocket of a child
She dodges a wave.
A poem flows out
Purple ink dries on the page
Hours pass slowly.
Clouds caught in amber
Molten gold the dying sun
Burns the blue-white world.
Sparkles seen from space
Betray the homes of billions
Circuit maps writ large.
Hydrogen atom
Individual, adrift
Between the far stars.
Drawn across the gulf
By our curiosity
Empty black and white. |
